What to plan before you book

  1. Know what bath you have

Metal based baths, cast iron and pressed steel, have a vitreous enamel coating. Fibreglass and composite baths have a gel coating. Each is prepared differently, so tell us at the quoting stage which type you have.

  2. Gather photos and details

Clear photos, the history of the bath, whether the surface is original or previously coated, its dimensions (a standard bath is 1700x700x450mm) and any rust or significant damage all help us quote accurately.

  3. Clear the room

Remove personal effects such as soaps, shampoo, toilet brushes, plants and towels. Wipe down shelves, window sills and light fittings so there is less dust to get into the spray.

  4. Sort the taps and screens first

If you plan to change the taps, or you have a shower screen, deal with them before the work begins. If in doubt, speak to the office before your technician arrives.

  5. Keep the room warm

The room needs to stay at 20°C or above while the surface cures, so keep the heating on in colder months.

Good to know

  1. The finish is not a factory finish

A new enamel bath is fired at very high temperatures, which cannot be repeated in a bathroom. Our spray finish is a high gloss, easy to clean surface, but it may feel slightly different to the original and minor textural variation can occur.

  2. Acrylic baths

It is impossible to replicate a heat moulded acrylic finish with a spray gun, however the bath will have a new shiny finish.

  3. What the guarantee covers

Our guarantee is an adhesion guarantee, for 5 years on a full resurface. It is subject to exclusions where damage is caused by impact, chemicals or dripping taps and standing water, and it should be reported within 7 days of noticing.

  4. Bath mats and suction pads

Bath mats, pillows and toys with suction pads are not advisable. If used, wait at least four weeks and remove them after every use so the surface can dry.

  5. When we recommend replacement

If we do not feel resurfacing will last, we will say so and recommend replacement.

  • White roll top bath in front of a brick fireplace on a wooden floor
  • Black freestanding roll top bath with gold feet beside a floor-standing tap on a white marble floor
  • White freestanding bath in front of a green tiled wall

How it works

  1. Send us the details

Photos and a few facts about your bath give us what we need to quote.

  2. Receive your written quote

We send a detailed quote with our terms and conditions, so you know what to expect before we attend.

  3. Your technician arrives

For full resurfacing, your technician will generally arrive between 8 and 9am, and we send a reminder email the day before with their name and arrival time.

  4. Preparation and spraying

The room is protected, the old sealant removed and the surface prepared, then our coating is sprayed on in our 30-stage process.

  5. Inspect and cure

Once finished and you have inspected the work, close the door and leave the surface to cure for 24 hours before use.

Questions customers ask

How long does the work take?

The whole process will take between 5 and 7 hours, and the bath will be ready for use after only 24 hours.

How long will a resurfaced bath last?

We provide a good old fashioned 5 year guarantee. A well looked after bath will last well in excess of that, and some have been known to last up to 20 years, at which point the material will start wearing thin and your bath can be resurfaced again.

Is it cheaper than replacing?

Resurfacing will very often save you around 60% on the cost of replacing your enamel bath. Every job is different, so we need your details to quote.

Can you resurface a bath that has been resurfaced before?

Tell us the history of the bath when you ask for a quote, including whether the surface is original or has been coated before.

What about the smell?

There will be a paint smell as the bath cures. We run extraction before, during and after spraying, and there are no harmful chemicals in our material. Once your technician has finished and you have inspected the work, close the door until the following day.

Can you resurface tiles and the rest of the suite?

Yes. Our material can be applied to baths, basins, pedestals and even tiles. We would recommend replacing the toilet.

What colours are available?

Many people resurface old beige or avocado suites in a brilliant, clean and modern white, but we can resurface in the colour of your choice, or match a sample you provide.
